Spirála 85 l.e.
The originator of the idea behind this watch, architect Václav Cigler, notes in his philosophical treatise on time that earthly time is perceived as a linear quantity. If, however, we accept that the universe is constantly expanding, then the true nature of time is better defined by a spiral! That is why the spiral is the main theme of this watch. Two of them, in fact. One winding in, one winding out. Black and white, day and night... Unlike a conventional watch, it is not the hands that rotate here but the dial, and over a 24h period at that. The design is completed by a unique glass sandwich that forms a louver: viewed at an angle, it reveals the entire dial graphic, while viewed straight on (the position in which most people read the time), the louver closes by about 70%, indicating that the time is read only in the upper half, which at any given moment signifies day or night, depending on the predominant color of the disc – white or black. The purpose of the glass sandwich was not to completely hide what is happening in the lower part of the dial. The intention was to focus the wearer’s attention on the artistic and philosophical dimension of the watch in the lower half and on its functional dimension in the upper half!
